it isn’t hard to find the dark spots in life. they are everywhere. what is more interesting is cultivating the ability to splash color and light around. even in the midst of the darkness.” – cara harjes
originally trained as a psychotherapist, i am one who aims to see the difficult parts of life through the lens of hope and restoration. after working as a professional counselor for nearly a decade, i felt pulled to explore my more creative side.
i have been painting since early 2010, when my late husband requested that i try my hand at painting something for his christmas present. being a painter is something i never imagined myself doing, but it brings me great pleasure to take a blank canvas and create something colorful, whimsical, and inviting. this is one way i search for and contribute beauty to a world full of pain and confusion.
as a young widow, i rely heavily on painting to bring me new life and joy! striving to live a life filled with creativity and beauty is what brings me great pleasure in the day to day.
i am a single momma to two awesome girls and i live in the platt park neighborhood, where i drink too many iced vanilla lattes. my studio is at converge denver, in the RiNo art district.
